Online paper trading is also known as trading simulation. Here you are involved in live trading on actual exchange markets but instead of using real currency you use paper credits. These are like tokens and are used as a substitute of real money (thought they don't hold the same value). The basic idea is to give an investor a first hand experience of what it would be like trading in actual market scenario. The investor does not face any real loss or gains as this is just simulation. Many online brokers provide demo account to its customers in order to engage in this simulation process.

But don't undermine the usefulness of this form of trading thinking that you would not gain or loose any money. It has been experience by novice as well as experts of the field that they can both benefit from this form of trading.

How can beginners benefit:

The best part is you do not require any capital as such to experience online paper trading. This provides a perfect platform to those who are just starting to learn the tricks of the trade. They would learn when to buy a share, when to sell it, how to minimize their loss in a bearish market etc.

Beginners have a tendency to treat currency trading as gambling. With the help of paper trading they would actually realize what the fundamentals are which direct the movement of a currency.

How does it benefit a seasoned trader?

If you have been invest in forex market for sometime and you have always felt the need of trying new methods or techniques, then a simulation process is just the thing which u need. By checking your new method you can always know whether it would be bringing you profits or losses.

Even experts of this field use this simulation process in order to fine tune their trading techniques and hence help them in earning greater profits or minimization of loss.

"I am a Real Trader"- How would I benefit?

You must take this concept out of your mind that you are using "false money" so you can be reckless in your decision making. You should see this as a learning curve where you can try out newer techniques and fine tune you existing ones. So even if you are using "false money", you must treat it as actual money and follow the simulation properly because it's for your befit only.

By taking calculated risks, you would know how to act in a particular situation in a better manner than u already have been doing. Even if you are an absolute expert of forex trading, even then you can learn a thing or two from online paper trading.
